Summers are pretty much awesome here in East TN. The smallmouth bite is on, the trout bite is on, and even though there’s always a chance for a pop up shower the weather it is generally pretty nice. We’ve actually seen some really nice weather in the 70’s the past week and we’re enjoying the heck out of it. I know it won’t last long but it gives us a slight taste of our favorite time of year: FALL!!!
The Lord has blessed us with a great season so far and we’ve been able to witness folks catch some really nice fish. The smallmouth bite is still going strong on both surface and subsurface flies and the fish are healthy and full of fight. For most warm water fishermen and smallmouth areas, August can be a tough month to fish because of the heat and sluggish fish, that’s not the case for East TN.
Todd flat out put it on them, after he put on the right shirt of course.
The Liske men were double trouble.
Andy and Butch enjoying the morning.
September is almost here which can bring some great opportunities for those brown fish. I’m hoping this topwater bite will carry on into October but you never know what can happen around here, especially when we’ve already seen days in the 70’s in August. Even if the fish aren’t looking for surface offerings there’s plenty of food below the surface to choose from.
Fall is coming up and that means leaves changing, cooler weather and colored up brown and brookies. You don’t want to miss that time of year, especially since it only lasts for a short while. If you’re looking for a place to get away, think about the Townsend area in the Smokies home of Little River Outfitters. You can’t go wrong in Townsend which is right outside the Smoky Mountain National Park. If you would like to get in a day or 2 of fishing then give us a call, we’d love to show you around.
